Bridesmaid Headbands

January 10, 2009

Another check!  Most of you saw these brooches when I first started planning and I recently found some strechy lace and sewed these headbands for my ladies!  Now I am on the hunt for white stretch lace for me - not the easiest thing to find!  This will go perfect with their dresses too since they have similar lace in the midsection.

Cards!!!

January 10, 2009

I bought this urn several years ago and it serves as my dining room table centerpiece.  Throughout most of the year it has red apples in it to tie into the red walls and accents in the room.  For the holidays I put red ornaments in it.  For the wedding it will house my cards.  This project was very quick and I love how it turned out!

Project in Progress

January 10, 2009

When my theme was coming together I got the idea to some cute napkin rings.  I bought some white gerbera daisies, spraypainted them silver and then added black shiny glitter to the middle.  Every plate will be white with a black napkin which will have individual menu cards inside the fold, and then a silver ribbon with this on top.  I think this is really going to make my tables pop!

Specialty Linens

January 10, 2009

Early in the wedding planning I was flipping through a Grace Ormonde magazine and saw a fabulous head table linen that looked like a couture wedding gown.  From that day on, I had been looking online for images of what I wanted and could not find anything out there like this.  I also wanted to keep the vintage touch in there so it was important to have lace and since my gown has a tulle hem, I wanted tulle as well.

So my grandmother spent several days covered in tulle to sew layers of tulle together.  I will have one for my cake table and one for my 16ft head table.  Mandy (whose ML gown also served as wedding dress inspiration) came down this week to cut out around the delicate lace and hand stich the lace on top.  I absolutely LOVE the outcome!!!  FYI – these will be for sale after my wedding!  The fabric was NOT cheap!

Note – this picture was taken on a table much larger than my 3ft rounds and there will be normal white catering linens underneath so that you cant see through the tulle.  The tulle is also NOT shiny – I bought good soft tulle for this project but the camera flash is making it look different.

Fun Little Project

January 10, 2009

So I took a break from blogging over the New Year but now that it is officially 2009 and I am nearing the 100 day and 3 month marks I have kicked into high gear for wedding planning.  I have been holding out on some pictures and I will be adding much more over the next few week as projects get finished.

This first project was one that I added just last week thanks to one of my April knotties (thanks Dor!) who found the idea here    http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/10/29/diy-project-message-marbles/    .    I bought the gems for $1.99 and if I can find the mini magnets I bought but never used for STDs – I may turn them into magnets.  I will sprinkle them at the guest book table, bar, and cake table.   Super easy and cheap!

Centerpiece Trial

December 5, 2008

This was our big project for the day!  Don’t mind the orange water beads -  got them for free so I used them to practice.  They will be clear.  I will also be using black branches instead of silver to make the pearls pop.  We also added a few crystals after these pictures were taken and they really pulled the whole look together.  I am getting the vases from my florist (free) picking the branches myself (free) and the crystals/pearls will cost about $15 per table.  I am thinking of adding some sort of riser since the arrangement is pretty big and I dont want it to get in people’s way.

Please leave honest feedback!

For me The Knot has been a great source of information for planning my wedding.  I have met a great deal of friends and gotten some fab information.  We all know that there is a dark side to The Knot.  Check out these videos of you haven’t seen them before.  Too funny!
